“You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil.”
—The Sorting Hat
While often underestimated, the witches and wizards of Hufflepuff have a lot to offer their school and the larger magical community. Known for their diligence, loyalty, kindness, and tolerance, who wouldn’t love a Hufflepuff?
Hufflepuff’s house colors are yellow and black. Their animal mascot is the badger. Whether you yourself are a Hufflepuff or you are knitting for a beloved Hufflepuff in your life, I’ve collected a range of patterns below to keep your knitting needles busy.
The patterns are divided by category. Some patterns are ones specifically designed to be Harry Potter themed knits, others are simply patterns that I like that I think will look good knit up in Hufflepuff colors.
Mittens
Here are two Hufflepuff designs: Huffle & Puff Mittens by Marie Wall and Just and Loyal by Dianna Walla

Here are two more mitten patterns that I think would look great knit up in Hufflepuff house colors: Endpaper Mitts by Eunny Jang and Wisby mittens by Sofia Kammeborn (ps, if you haven’t seen Sofia’s YouTube channel, I highly recommend checking it. A true work of art)

Sweaters
Here’s a lovely Hufflepuff themed fair isle sweater: Hufflepuff Sweater set by Meghan Regan

Or you could make either of these two classic Harry Potter sweaters in Hufflepuff colors. I have a whole post on Quidditch knits, if you are looking for more on the Quidditch sweater. Below are The Weasley Sweater by Alison Hansel and Quidditch Sweater by Anne Bergeron

Scarves and Cowls
When I think of Harry Potter scarves, the house scarf comes immediately to mind, of course. If you are thinking of knitting a house scarf in Hufflepuff colors, be sure to check out my post all about house scarves: Hogwarts House Scarves, where I discuss house scarves in detail and provide a number of pattern options for knitting one of your own.
Here are some other scarf options:

Hufflepuff Pride Cowl
by Meghan Regan
Hufflepuff Spirit Scarf
by Lisa Hannan Fox
Badger Animal Scarf
by Louise Walker
Another pattern I love that I think would make a great Hufflepuff scarf is Windy Scarf by Martin Storey. I knit this scarf for my husband a couple of years ago. It was such an interesting and fun knit, and I loved the finished object (my husband did too!). I think it would look great in black and yellow and would make for a elegant way to show your house pride.

Socks
There are a number of Hufflepuff colorwork sock patterns available on Ravelry:

For something a bit easier, you could take any two color sock pattern and turn it into a Hufflepuff sock by knitting it up in house colors Here are a couple of pattern options:

Bags
I found a number of cute bag patterns for Hufflepuffs. This one from Rosemary Waits includes charts for all four houses. Here’s a peek at the Gryffindor version:

Plushies
If you can’t get enough badgers in your life, here are a couple more badger patterns. Brompton Badger by Amanda Berry would make a loyal friend and Badger Head by Louise Walker would look cute decorating your common room wall.

I also thought it would be fun to put together some knits that celebrate famous Hufflepuffs…
Professor Sprout
Here’s some knits that celebrate Pomona Sprout, Head of Hufflepuff and teacher of Herbology:

Lastly, let’s take a look at some knits inspired by that handsome, magizoologist, Newt Scamander.

I also think another fun way to channel Newt Scamander would be to knit up some items inspired by his film wardrobe. I particularly love the look of his long blue jacket over the gold vest.

To capture this look I would knit Autumnal Cardigan by Hannah Fettig in a peacock blue and layer it over a vest like Buttonbox by Elizabeth McCarten or Massaman by Elizabeth Smith in a gold or golden brown. I personally love the idea of these more subtle forms of cosplay. In an outfit like this, you would know that your inspiration is Newt, but you don’t look as if you are wearing a costume to any and all passers-by.

And that’s a wrap for Hufflepuff knits! Let me know which Hufflepuff pattern you would most like to knit below!
